Who doesn’t love a good frock swap

You know that I like clothes swapping, right? I don’t really need to tell you again, but I am not the only one who has been taken by Frock Swap fever! With less than two weeks to go until the next Fe-line Frock Swap, I thought it was time for me to tell you again about the wonders of clothes swapping, but this time showing off other Fe-liners top swaps!
I met up with avid Fe-line frock swappers, Sarah and Claire to take some pictures of them in their favourite frock swap dresses. Sarah and Claire are so sold by the concept of swapping that they are in agreement that they will no longer buy anything (apart from essentials, underwear, black trousers etc) and just wait for the swaps.
Sarah and Claire got their dresses from the last swap, Claire wears a beautiful blue number originally from Topshop which I think looks absolutely fabulous with her hair colour and Sarah wears a floaty, flowery dress, originally from Zara, which has been a firm favourite of hers over the Summer. Sarah is off to Australia for Christmas and New Year (lucky lady) so is on the hunt for some end of summer pieces at the next swap.
Sarah and Claire are not the only ones that have been getting some great outfits in our Frock Swaps. The always wonderful Xandra from Fashionably Light sent us the picture below of her favourite frock swap items. I love how Xandra pulls this outfit off so effortlessly. As soon as I pulled the green fluffy jacket out of the bag, I knew someone was in for an amazing swap! The other amazing thing about swapping is that when I posted Xandra’s picture on Twitter, the original owner of the trousers tweeted back. Fe-line is all about bringing people together you know!
I feel kind of proud that I have managed to kit these lovely ladies out with outfits for only £2 and convinced them that swapping is so much better than shopping. If that wasn’t good enough, I was absolutely thrilled when I received this feedback from Catherine owner of Seriously PR:
“I came to my very first Fe-line Frock Swap recently, having lost most of my baby weight and feeling inspired to update my wardrobe. I had concerns about a Next Sale style bundle for the best threads but I needn’t have worried. It was very civilised and the buzz of excitement was catching. I came away with some new clothes and a sense of satisfaction in seeing my pre-loved garments going to good homes – colours matched to skin, fits matched to busts and lengths perfectly tailored – things I hadn’t achieved with these items, hence my parting ways with them. The Fe-line Frock Swap is addictive – go once and you’ll need a regular fix.”
So have I done enough to convince you that clothes swapping is fabulous? If so we have two swaps planned at The Big Society on Cowley Road before Christmas one on Saturday 28th September and one on Saturday 30th November. You can also check out the list of events on the Fe-line .
If you want to check out the amazing items that I have got in the Fe-line Frock Swap, read my post Frock swapping is the future.

As you are well aware I am a big fan of recycling and making the most of what already exists in the world rather than making more, hence The Fe-line Frock Swap. I wanted to draw your attention to this event coming up in September that is all about recycling handbags. The event is called Handbags for Hospices, it is an auction of second handbags donated by generous women. All of the proceeds are donated to two local hospices, Katharine House Hospice, Adderbury and Sobell House Hospice, Oxford.
Handbags for Hospices is the brainchild of best friends, Lucy Wilkes and Abigail Bowen and they have organised similar events in Brighton and London. They have even received handbags in the past from celebrities such as Paloma Faith, Davina Mccall, Zoe Ball and Elizabeth Hurley, so you never know who’s handbag you could be going home with. Handbags for Hospices is great news for anyone wanting to get rid of an excess of handbags or for those who just can’t get enough!
Handbags for Hospices is taking place in Oxford on Thursday 19th September between 6:30-9:0pm at the Malmaison in the Castle complex. Katy Dyer, (you might remember Katy from various Fe-line events) is one of the local organisers and she is looking for your unwanted bags. You can contact Katy by email or call her if you would like to donate. Or you can support the charities by attending the event and bidding for a fabulous new handbag, one of mine is up for grabs (above). You can buy your ticket online for just £5 and it includes a glass of wine.
Oh and if whilst you are digging around for unwanted handbags, you find some unwanted clothes then come along and swap them at The Fe-line Frock Swap. Between these two events you should be sorted for your Autumn wardrobe and in an ethical, fun and charitous way. Not a boring arduous trip to the high street in sight! A bonus surely.
