Why I love my new sports bra

Today’s Who runs the world post is all about boobs! Yes women we have them and we need to look after them. When it comes to sport this is one thing that does set us apart from the men, but they shouldn’t get in our way and they don’t need to. There is a very simple solution, get a good sports bra that fits you properly.

Why?

Wearing a normal bra doesn’t compress your breasts and means that they are free to move around all over the place whilst you are exercising. This is no good because it means it does not protect the tissue in the breast from stretching. This can lead to back pains after exercise and in the long term … sagging!! NOOOOOOOOOOO, we don’t want this!

Also if you are wearing the wrong underwear it is just bloody uncomfortable and you spend your time readjusting, wriggling and just generally being annoyed. We don’t want this when we are exercising, it is hard enough without having to deal with annoying underwear! You do not want anything distracting you or giving you a reason to quit.

I got a new sports bra this week from the lovely ladies at Marie in Abingdon and I am in love with it. In fact when I got home I went straight out for a run to try it out. You know when you get home from going shopping for a new outfit you want to wear it there and then, it is the same with sports clothes. This is why I advocate buying sports kit that makes you feel awesome. If you wear something that you like, flatters your shape and makes you want to strut then you will probably exercise more! Your old PE from school, your boyfriends shorts or your everyday leggings just ain’t going to cut it ladies!

This is the bra, not me, I don't do archery in my pants!!

My new bra, not me, I do archery fully dressed

Back to my new sports bra, it is by Anita Active and for a sports bra I think it is quite cute. I like the mesh on the side and the shape at the front. I really like putting it on, I feel like I can do whatever I want when I have it on, nothing moves anywhere and I have so much support. I may even try archery in my pants. It also feels really soft and nice on the skin. When I get out for the run I forget I even have breasts, which is exactly what I want because I can focus on going faster and running better.

If you want to get yourself kitted out with a brand new sports bra but don’t know what size or fit you need then the lovely ladies at Marie in Abingdon are offering a 10% discount on their sports bras to Fe-line readers. All you need to do is go in and tell them that me and the cat sent you! They will fit you and make sure that you are wearing the right size and supported in all the right places.

Love and sports bras,
