How many of you running your own businesses are scared of the words media and PR? Well we are going to be talking about this topic and telling you how to make the media work for you. You will leave feeling excited not scared!

Word of Mouth is a monthly women’s group with a difference. Come along and pick up tips, get inspiration and meet like minded people. Many of us don’t live in the same places as our mothers, sister, aunties and cousins any more, but we all have skills we can share and support that we can give each other.

Our wonderful Fe-line story telling women for May are:

Jo Thoenes

jothoenesYou will probably recognise Jo from BBC radio Oxford. All of her work on the radio means she is a real pro at knowing what makes a good story. Jo will be talking to us about her life on the radio, how she got into the industry, how she battled her way through a male dominated world and what exciting adventures she has been on since she left the afternoon show last year.

Catherine Warrilow

Catherine Warrilow of Baby GenieCatherine runs PR agency Seriously PR and this is her second Word of Mouth appearance. Last time she told us about the importance of blogging but for this event she will be focusing on unpicking the world of PR. PR is all about finding the story that will make people take action and this is something Catherine has  been doing since she joined Newsround’s Press Pack at the age of seven. Catherine will share with us her hints and tips for making the media work for you.
